Epson brought the same Heat-Free tech down to A4 with the AM-C400. It does 40 pages per minute, has a 10.1-inch touchscreen (same as the big A3 machines), and scanning at 50 ipm simplex / 100 ipm duplex. The clever bit is the form factor: you can set it up as a desktop unit or floor-standing with optional cassettes, giving you up to five paper sources. It takes up to Legal-sized media and handles paper weights up to 256gsm from the trays. Running costs are a fraction of A4 colour lasers.
